Malvern Vs Surrey Park.

Result – Loss 12 – 9

Division One travelled to Surrey Park for what would be a close game, I must admit that before the game and knowing the scores Surrey has had again other team we would be hard pressed to give them a hard game but I am glad I was wrong.
At no stage throughout the game did one team have more than a three goal lead, the defence played well with Paul Spierling playing one of his best games in the cage, been a veteran of 5 game and should have got votes for the game.
The attach played well but at times had a hard time penetrating the Surrey Park defence, with five minutes to go in the game the scores were tied but unfortunately we were not able to capitalise on this and ended up going down by three goals.
The goal Scorers for the game were Rod Finnigan 1, Patrick Mcgrath-Campbell 1, Daniel Keisler 1, Tim Laidlaw 2, Paul Cook 2 and Jake Coleman 2

Malvern Vs MCC/Caulfield.

Result – Loss 9 – 6

After last weeks best game of the season this weeks game was our worst performance.
With players absent and late arrivals we struggled to have 10 players.
Luckily for us Dillan Hubbard went in goals and Guy Exton found some gear to give us a starting line up.
We were in hot water against a very keen MCC/Caulfield team that smelt blood.
Toby Exton faced off all day and lead the team again, Dillan Hubbard was outstanding in goals and with the pressure on us we trailed 1-2 at halftime.
The third quarter turned the game our way scoring 5 goals to MCC 1. This gave us a 3 goal lead at the 3/4 break.
With an even 2 goals a piece in the final we posted a gutsy win.
Sammy 2 goals-1 assist
Shorty 2 goals-1 assist
Hamish 1 goal-2 assists
Toby 2 goals
Darcy 1 goal-1 asiss
Zac 1 goal.
At home for the last 2 rounds surrey and then Chadstone before the finals.

Malvern Vs Eltham.

Result – Won 20 – 8

Hopefully everybody pulled up ok after a hard fought game.
Jordy stood in a hole and rolled his ankle but should be ok for next week.
Alex twisted his knee and hopefully he will also be ok for next weeks game.
The team travelled to Altona and got off to a slow start however, the team were able to adjust to the
physical style that Altona were playing.
The ball went up and down the field for quite a while before the team finally seized control of the game.

The final score was Malvern 20 to Altona 8.

It was good to see that out of the 20 goals scored, 14 were assisted.
There were some passages of great teamwork highlighted by the team scoring an unbelievable down
the field goal, starting with 3 quick passes out of the backline BANG, BANG, BANG.
A time out to praise the team and then the next goal was an even better display of how to move the ball.
Awesome! some of our training drills are finally showing through.
All in all a good team effort where we all had to “dig deep”.

The Riser for this week goes to Luke Buccheri.
This was Luke’s first encounter with real hard physical Lacrosse and he
thrived on it, racking up a heap of possessions. Well Done Luke.

Good Tough Malvern Lacrosse Each and Every Day.

Malvern Vs Chadstone Gold.

Result – Loss 9 – 11

This week the mighty Malvern Black hosted Chadstone gold. With sickness running rampant we took the field with only 7. Great sportsman ship was shown by the parents, coaches and players from Chadstone when they suggested playing 7 a side. This helped to even the game and made for a very exciting hard fought game. A highlight was a behind the back goal from Ben. Tom B was also excellent in the goal. Lachlan and Nathan played great when the ball was on the ground, out running most opponents and scooping the ball up cleanly. Tom M showed how Thursday night ground ball training is working by bumping his opponent off the ball to allow an easy pick up. Tom M showed great courage after being drilled in the head with a shot. Not wanting to let the team down he bravely returned to the field and continued playing. Paige made great position in attack particularly at the end of the game. Everyone was trying to get her the ball but could not quite score. Goal scorers were Ben 5-2, Aaron 2-1, Lachlan 1-4, Thomas 1-1 and Nathan 1 assist.
