Malvern Vs Footscray.

Result – Won 11 – 8

Division One played Footscray and the Town Hall last Saturday and had another win for the season.
Going into the game we were confident that we could win based upon the last time we meet, Malvern had a stronger team than the previous time and so did Footscray.
Both teams fought hard in the muddy conditions and the scores stayed close all day.
Footscray had a one goal lead at the end of the first and maintained the lead going into half time.
At the end of the third it was seven all and in the last we got a 4 to 1 advantage over them winning by three goals.
Goal scorers for the game were Paul Cook 4, Daniel Keisler 2, Rod Finnigian 2, Jake Coleman 2 and Samuel Johnson 1 (first Senior goal)

Malvern Vs Eltham.

Result – Won 26 – 8

On a very wet and muddy field at the Town Hall we matched up against 3rd placed Altona.
First face off of the day was won by Toby Exton and was swooped on by long stick midi James Butler, this was a sample of the rest of the game. A good solid work rate by all the players.
Still missing Sammy Anglicas and Dillan Hubbard and Michael Petrisich continued his feeding role.
Winning all the face offs we dominated Altona all over the field.
The shooting improved so much that i did not even notice their goalie.
Again ground shots were the winners completely out smarting their goalie.
The Malvern defence played well with Darcy Campbell saving the Altona shots from all distances.
Dean Parrott looked comfortable with a long stick backed up by Corey Hubbard and James Butler.
The midfield worked hard all day with Michael, Hamish and Zac putting in a huge effort and Luca was very creative passing to open teammates.
Our team riding was very good forcing Altona into many turn overs.
Of our 26 goals 14 were assisted which highlights our strong team work and game plan.
Toby 10 goals -1 assist
Michael 5 goals -5 assists
Luca 2 goals -6 assists
Joe 5 goals
Zac 2 goals
James 1 goal -1 assist
Corey 1 goal
Hamish 1 assist
Next week we are away to a very soft and wet Albert ground to face MCC/Caulfield

Malvern Vs MCC.

Result – Won 27 – 5

A good solid team win.
We started on the money this week and the biggest difference was our shooting.
We put the first 4 shots straight by the goalie and does it make a big difference compared
to missing the first 4 shots.
We started with Hugo in the middle to give him a good solid workout at the face off and he blitzed again.
Our ball movement was also much sharper this week and we scored a lot more goals from cuts.
Team “talk” was much better this week but still needs to get louder.
Ground ball counts were slightly up for everyone but keep in mind our aim is to become “kings” of the groundball.
Please also keep in mind when we are chasing to wait till the guy who has the ball either goes to pass or
shoot then lay the upchecks.
Our bumping was ok but we must keep working on it.
All in all a real team effort with every player a major contributor.
Rising Star for the Second week in a row is Hugo Norris, 95% Face Off Wins, 6 Goals , 2 assists and lots of hard running.
Well done Hugo, I am sure all who watched the game will agree. Keep it up.

Tips of the Week.
When you have the ball always presume that someone is after you or on your back.
Make sure your stick is in good condition as it is now closing in on the business end of the season.

We are Training at 4.45pm Thursday and are playing Altona at Altona on Saturday.
Please all there by 8.45am
Parents could you please advise by reply your availability for both asap.
