Malvern had its 3rd game against the ladder leaders on Saturday and narrowly lost again in a
tight low scoring game. Malvern were weakened by the absence of their U16 contingent and
were under pressure from the start but the backline of Brendon Farrell, Jason Brewer and
Joel Hourigan stood tall and anything that got through was cleaned up by Brett Sexton who
had a ripper game in the goals. It took till the second quarter for someone and it was by
the youngest player on the field Sammy Anglicas, the rest of the game was a struggle with
Eltham running out winners 5 goals to 3. Scorers Sammy Anglicas 2 goals and
Rod Finnigan 1goal. Best Players Brett Sexton, Sammy Anglicas, Rod Finnigan, Rod Ansell.

Under 18′s: vs Melbourne High School 10-0

Under 16′s: vs Eltham 8-5

Under 14′s: vs Eltham 17-5

Under 12 Black: vs Chadstone Red 26-4

This week saw our first game at home for the season up against the much older, more experienced, highly skilled and undefeated Chaddy. The goalie rotation saw Rohan in goals for the first time and Thomas not feeling 100% taking the goalie gear for the second half (although with the constant pounding from the Chaddy boys it wasn’t much of a rest!) The opposition skill level was evident from the start and Rohan stood tall in the goals without backing down. Everyone tried their hardest the whole game, with Aaron Lochie and Jenna running from one end of the field to the other all game and together with Maddy and Ally stringing together some great passes for Ben Thom Rohan and Kaleb to score our goals. We kept our heads and our spirits up even though the scoring was one sided.

Under 12 Reds: vs Chadstone Gold 7-7

The under 12 reds came storming back on saturday, shutting out chadstone in the second half, and ending up with a 7-7 draw.
Dylan Ive was sensational in the goals, not letting a single goal in the second half, saving everything chadstone threw at him.
New backbone of the defence Nic Maher was once again picking up everything off the ground, and intercepting passes ensuring that chadstone never got into an offensive rhythm. He was assisted greatly by Maddy in the last quarter, keeping malvern in the match.
The Midfield which included Rupert,Alex,Elliot and Luke made sure that malvern had plenty of running and ensured malvern always had strong options out of defence and into attack
Attack lead by Zara and Taylah presented options aplenty to make sure that the cdhadstone defence was kept on its toes, and making sure midfield had options to pass too
